Construction Completed On Community Hospice House Connector Addition
The Bon Secours Richmond Health Care Foundation was pleased to celebrate the completion of the connector addition at the Community Hospice House with a blessing of the new construction on June 29th , 2023. The celebration included the unveiling of a plaque honoring the late Sister Vicky Segura’s contributions to hospice in central Virginia and was attended by around 50 donors whose contributions supported this project.
The addition connects the two nurses stations on the formerly U-shaped structure. The hallway simplifies patient care for the team, streamlines communication between staff, and provides discreet mortuary access. The Community Hospice House, located on the Southside of Richmond, is a 16-bed acute care facility serving hospice patients in the greater Richmond metropolitan area – the only of its kind in the community – and is supported by donations to the Bon Secours Richmond Health Care Foundation. The house is peaceful and serene with beautiful garden views from patient rooms and offers a team of physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains and volunteers to support patients and their families on their end of life journey. Each beautiful room has a private bath, access to outside gardens and restful space for family members to participate in the care of their loved one.
